A list of all the rules concerning the balls in Kojammi-Pool

About The Balls

Kojammi-Pool is played using a set of balls each measuring 57mm in diameter. Each set consists of fourteen White Balls, one Black Ball and one Kojammi Ball.

Rules Concerning The White Balls
  • White Balls are the only Balls which the Active Player is allowed to Touch during their Round.
  • Active Players select their 3 Starting White Balls after their Opponent has finished the Set-Up.
  • Active Players are permitted to place Under Control any White Ball/White Balls which come across the Live Line into the Playing Zone.
  • Active Players must ensure there is always a White Ball Outfield up until the point where the Black Ball becomes Activated.
  • White Balls are specifically not allowed to be Thrown.
  • White Balls must be Rolled from behind the Live Line in the Playing Zone.
  • When a White Ball is Potted this constitutes one Pot.
  • White Balls which are placed Under Control are eligible to be used as a Penalty Ball.
  • Active Players who Roll and fail to make Direct Contact with any other White Ball in two Turns in a row will incur a Standard Foul.
  • Only one White Ball at a time may be Rolled.
  • Active Players must wait until all the Balls have Come To Rest before Rolling their next White Ball.
  • White Balls which are in motion in the Playing Zone that have not yet been placed Under Control by an Active Player following a Roll are not permitted to make Contact with any other White Ball in the Player’s Store before the Active Player has placed said White Ball/White Balls in motion Under Control.
  • White Balls are not allowed to be Rolled Straight In A Pocket and must make Contact with another Ball before being Potted or a Round Ending Foul is incurred.
  • White Balls which are manipulated by the Active Player into either of the Kojammi Pockets are counted as having been Rolled Straight In and constitute a Round Ending Foul.
  • White Balls which are knocked Off The Table are replaced Outfield at the position of the Opponent’s choosing and are not counted as a Pot. Active Players will still incur a Penalty Ball in the normal fashion.
  • Any White Balls which are Potted during the course of a Foul (with the exception of playing a White Ball Straight In The Pocket) still count towards an Active Player’s Score.
  • Active Players are entitled to leave any White Balls which Come To Rest in the Playing Zone.
  • White Balls inside the Playing Zone which have been Touched by the Active Player and subsequently Come To Rest will be deemed to be Under Control.
  • White Balls which have Come To Rest in the Playing Zone will be deemed to be Under Control.
Rules Concerning The Black Ball
  • The Black Ball may not be Touched by the hand/arm/finger or any other body part of the Active Player at any time.
  • The Black Ball is not permitted to have Direct Contact with a White Ball unless it is Activated.
  • If the Black Ball is not Activated it acts as a Foul Ball.
  • If there is only one White Ball remaining on the Table and The Player has it In Hand, the Black Ball becomes Active/Activated and can be legally Potted potentially earning the Active Player two Frame Points, pending the Opponent’s usual Right Of Reply.
  • If the Black Ball stops in the Playing Zone, is Knocked Off The Table or is potted before becoming Active then it is Re-spotted and a Standard Foul is incurred.
  • The Black Ball is not permitted to make Contact with any of the White Balls that constitute a Player’s Store in the Playing Zone.
  • When the Black Ball is Activated it becomes the Object Ball.
  • Players who Pot an Activated Black Ball conclude their Round.
  • An Activated Black Ball which is Potted during the course of a Foul still counts towards an Active Player’s Score in so long as the Contact with the Object Ball was legal.
  • When it is not possible to Re-Spot the Black Ball on the Black Spot following a Black Ball Foul, the Black Ball should be placed on the Kojammi Spot. Where this is also obstructed by a Ball, the Black Ball should be Re-Spotted as close to the Black Spot as possible without interfering with any other Ball.
  • When the Black Ball is Activated, it takes over the Function of a White Ball in relation to Direct Contact with the Kojammi Ball.
Rules Concerning The Kojammi Ball
  • The Kojammi Ball ends a Player’s Round if it is potted Outfield.
  • The Kojammi Ball ends a Player’s Round if it is Potted in either of the Kojammi Pockets. Provided that the Contact with the Kojammi Ball was legal and the Kojammi Ball runs unimpeded into the Kojammi Pocket, the Active Player will automatically win two Frame Points without the Opponent’s usual Right Of Reply coming into effect.
  • The Kojammi Ball ends a Player’s Round if it crosses the Live Line.
  • The Kojammi Ball ends a Player’s Round if it is Knocked Off The Kojammi Table during the course of an Active Player’s Round.
  • The Kojammi Ball is not permitted to have Direct Contact with a White Ball.
  • If the Kojammi Ball is Potted in either of the Kojammi Pockets during the course of a Foul following an Active Player’s Roll, the Kojammi Ball Pot still stands in so long as the Contact with the Object Ball was legal. The Active Player is awarded two Frame Points and the Opponent loses the Right Of Reply for that Frame.
  • The Kojammi Ball is not allowed to be Touched by the Active Player during their Round.
