Scoring

A list of all the rules concerning Scoring in Kojammi-Pool

Scoring

Kojammi-Pool is played using a set of balls each measuring 57mm in diameter. Each set consists of fourteen White Balls, one Black Ball and one Kojammi Ball.

Rules Concerning Scoring
  • Where Players have registered a Score but neither Player has Activated the Black Ball, the Player who has Potted the most White Balls is awarded one Frame Point.
  • Where an Active Player has managed to Activate the Black Ball and subsequently Pot it, the Active Player is awarded two Frame Points provided they Win The Frame.
  • In the instance that Players both register the same Score within a Frame, the Frame Points will be awarded to whichever Player has the shorter Round Time.
  • The hierarchy of Scores will be as follows: the number of White Balls Potted, overridden by a Black Ball Pot, overridden by a Kojammi Pot.
Rules Concerning The White Balls
  • These are the only balls the player is allowed to touch
  • Players select their 3 starting White Balls after their opponent has finished setting up.
  • Players are permitted to catch any White Balls which come across the Live Line into the Playing Zone.
  • Players must ensure there is always a White Ball Outfield
  • Players must roll the White Balls having contact with the table. White Balls are specifically not allowed to be thrown.
  • White Balls must be rolled from behind the Live Line in the Playing Zone.
  • White Balls which are legally potted (i.e. have already made contact with another White Ball) count as one pot.
  • Only one White Ball at a time may be rolled.
  • Players must wait until all the balls have stopped moving before rolling their next White Ball.
  • White Balls which are still in motion are not permitted to make contact with any ball in the Playing Zone before a player has placed it under control.
  • White Balls must make contact with another White Ball before being potted or a round ending foul is incurred.
  • White Balls which are manipulated into either of the Kojammi Pockets without crossing the Live Line and making contact with another White Ball are counted as having been rolled straight in and constitute a round ending foul.
  • White Balls which are knocked off the table are replaced Outfield at the position of your opponent’s choosing and are not counted as a pot. Players will still incur a penalty ball in the normal fashion.
Rules Concerning The Black Ball
  • The Black Ball may not be touched by the hand of the active player at any time.
  • The Black Ball is not permitted to be hit directly by a White Ball. All contact with the Black Ball must be preceded by contact with a White Ball.
  • If there is more than one White ball on the table, the Black Ball acts as a Foul Ball (see Fouls section).
  • If there is only one White ball remaining on the table (and in hand) the Black Ball becomes ‘active’ and can be legally potted earning the player two frame points, pending the usual Right Of Reply.
  • If the Black Ball stops in the Playing Zone, leaves the table or is potted before becoming active then it is Re-spotted and a penalty ball deducted from the player’s arsenal of White Balls.
Rules Concerning The Kojammi Ball
  • The Kojammi Ball ends a player’s round if it is potted Outfield.
  • The Kojammi Ball ends a player’s round if it is potted in either of the Kojammi Pockets. Provided that no other rules have been infringed and the Kojammi Ball runs unimpeded into the Kojammi Pocket without the player interfering with it, the active player will automatically win two frame points without the usual Right Of Reply rule applying.
  • The Kojammi Ball ends a player’s round if it crosses the Live Line.
  • The Kojammi Ball ends a player’s round if it leaves the table in any way.
  • The Kojammi Ball is only allowed to be touched by a White Ball if the contact is indirect (i.e. that the object White Ball has already made contact with another).
