Get Rollin’ with this beginners guide to how to play Kojammi-Pool and roll with the pro’s.

At A Glance

  • One player plays at a time
  • Pot as many of the White Balls as you can
  • Avoid knocking the red Kojammi Ball over the Live Line
  • Pot more White Balls on your round than your opponent to win

One At A Time

In Kojammi-Pool you play your entire frame by yourself. Pot more White Balls on your turn to win the frame.

Potted the same number of balls? Whoever FINISHES their frame quicker wins the frame.

The Balls

Pot the White Balls to set your score. Highest score wins the frame. Pot the whites until you’re down to your last one then pot the black ball for two frame points.

AVOID THE KOJAMMI BALL at all costs!!!

Get To Know The Table

  • The Live Line – Players can catch any White Balls that go over the Live Line but your round is over if the Kojammi Ball crosses it.
  • The Playing Zone – This is the area behind the Live Line. Players must play from behind here.
  • Open Field – This is the area where most of the game takes place.

The Set-Up

The set-up in Kojammi-Pool is as individual as a signature. Players are free to set up the White Balls in any order they please providing the following rules are met:

  • The Kojammi ball must be on the Kojammi spot (the forward spot)
  • The Black Ball must be on the black spot (the rear spot)
  • The White Balls must not be placed passed the middle pockets

The Kojammi Ball

The Kojammi Ball is the danger ball. Your frame ends if the Kojammi Ball:

  • Crosses the Live Line
  • Is potted In An Outfield Pocket
  • Is potted in one of the Kojammi Pockets

The Right Of Reply

Once you’ve set your score, your opponent has the Right Of Reply. This means that they have the opportunity to beat your score. The exception to this is if you pot the Kojammi Ball in the Kojammi Pocket where you win two frame points outright without the Right Of Reply.

YURRRHS!

Scoring

  • Win one frame point by potting more White Balls than your opponent or by finishing your round faster than your opponent if you score the same.
  • Win two frame points by potting all the White Balls and with your last White Ball potting the Black Ball.
  • Win two frame points outright without the Right Of Reply by potting the Kojammi ball in either of the Kojammi pockets.
  • First to five frame points within your 15-minute time limit to win the match.
  • Both run out of time? It’s a draw.

We Both Scored The Same

If you both score the same number of pots in a frame, then the clock becomes important. Whoever completed their frame first wins the points for the frame. Play quickly but remember you must wait for the balls to stop moving before hitting them.

The Clock

Each player has their own clock in Kojammi-Pool which runs down from 15 minutes whenever a player is playing at the table. Players must reach the required five frame points within this time limit to secure victory.

If your time runs out without reaching five frame points then you’re only then playing for a draw. If your opponent still has time on their clock, they’re still playing for a win.

Set as high a score as you can, keep them at the table and run their clock down to claw back a draw rather than a HUMMMMBLING DEFEAT.

The Kojammi Pockets

The Kojammi Pockets offer up the prospect of grabbing victory in a frame from the jaws of defeat. If the Kojammi Ball crosses the Live Line and passes into one of the Kojammi Pockets you win two frame points outright without your opponent having the normal Right of Reply. It’s a gamble though. Miss and your round is over.

Fouls In Kojammi-Pool

Fouls in Kojammi-Pool result in losing one of your playing balls. Your opposition gets to put the foul ball wherever they wish. If you don’t have any White Balls left to play with then your round is over.

What Ends Your Round

We know only one player plays at a time but what ends your round in Kojammi-Pool?

  • Knocking the Kojammi Ball over the Live Line
  • Potting the Kojammi Ball either Out Field or in one of the Kojammi Pockets
  • Running out of White Balls for ammunition
  • Rolling a White Ball straight in a pocket
  • Knocking the Kojammi Ball off the table
